Broker Website Effectiveness Study

Last year WAV Group was given access to many of the top broker websites in the country to view thier traffic statistics.

The hope was that by sharing the aggregated data, many of the false myths of succeeding online would be dispelled.

As it turns out, SEO is not a big deal (despite some websites spending more than $1MM over time on it).

Listing Syndication is important for sellers, but also not a huge driver of traffic.

REALTOR.com does not pass much traffic along to brokers.

And there is more.  Please download our whitepaper on the topic here.

I haven't read the whitepaper yet, so forgive me if you have covered this there.

It looks like most brands are getting traffic from direct hits or folks searching for the brand.

Doesn't this suggest that brokers / brands are doing a horrible job with SEO? It suggests to me that they are missing out on the "cityname realestate" search and losing that battle to Zillow and Trulia.

It seems like they are focusing on brand building elsewhere and are not taking advantage of the modern internet.

The brokers in our survey were among the top in the United States, and they have all invested in SEO. The research points out that more consumers go to real estate websites knowing the URL rather than doing generic searches. Actually - more than 90% of the time, when they use a search engine, they include a broker name in their search.
